In mijn zestigste levensjaar 2020 ben ik tijdens de lockdown begonnen aan het project MijnPAT60. Een half jaar voor mijn 60ste verjaardag zag het boek - een éénmalige privéuitgave - het daglicht.
I N T R O
Mijn Persoonlijke Albums Tijdlijn (1961-2020) bevat een selectie van de beste albums (elpees/cd’s) die tijdens mijn 60 levensjaren tot nu toe gemaakt zijn. Dit alles uiteraard naar mijn persoonlijke en bescheiden mening en voorkeur. Ik heb dit getoetst door mijn muziekverzameling (ik bezit ongeveer 2.000 geluidsdragers) nog eens zorgvuldig door te nemen. En sinds mijn 14e jaar hou ik jaarlijks overzichts-lijstjes bij, welke ook een goede blauwdruk waren voor dit boek. Om variatie te behouden heb ik mezelf de beperking opgelegd om een artiest of band slechts één keer te kiezen. Verzamelalbums of compilaties vielen buiten die keuze.
Lijstjes
Omdat ik mijn muziekverzameling altijd heb beschouwd als een muzikaal dagboek (‘draai uit mijn platenkast en beluister mijn leven’) heb ik bij iedere plaat, behalve een korte omschrijving, ook een persoonlijke voetnoot toegevoegd. Eventuele bezochte live-concerten van de betreffende band of artiest worden hierin ook benoemd. De periode vanaf mijn 15e tot m’n 21e levensjaar zijn op muzikaal gebied voor mij een ‘life-changing experience’ geweest. Van 1976 tot 1981 kwam er in diverse stromingen zoveel goede muziek uit dat ik van die jaren een extra albumlijst heb toegevoegd. En voor de volledigheid heb ik ook nog een paar anderen afzonderlijke lijstjes samengesteld.
Daarbij zijn er uiteraard nog tientallen artiesten en bands die me ook iets deden of doen en niet vermeld worden, maar dit overzicht blijft slechts een beknopte - doch zorgvuldig samengestelde - selectie uit de 60-jarige soundtrack van mijn leven. Voor wie het interesseert. En bedenk daarbij: het is allemaal muziek, maar het smaakt voor iedereen compleet anders. Of, zoals één van mijn favoriete bands het ooit zong: ‘het is maar rock ‘n roll, maar ik hou ervan!
